South Ribble Leisure Centres are nearing the end of a multimillion-pound improvements project, which has made greener, more energy efficient leisure centres, and given them long-needed modernisation and upgrades.

The first stage, was the decarbonisation and infrastructure phase - involving huge improvements to the infrastructure that keeps the centres operational and energy efficient. 

The second phase is modernisation and improvements across all four sites. We are dedicated to providing you with high-quality leisure centres at incredible value locally and we are proud to be nearing the end of our modernisation and energy efficiency improvements to enhance your user experience. Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding while the work takes place.

 

Leyland Leisure Centre

We are pleased to say the majority of the work is now complete - although there we are still making improvements across the centre. 

We have a fully refurbished gym, new modernised changing rooms, new pool tiling, new reception area and much more.

Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre

Our modernised wet-side and dry-side changing rooms, and reception area are open for use! Our gym has also reopened following refurbishment.

There are still improvements being made across the centre, thank you for your patience.

Penwortham Leisure Centre

The modernised pool changing area and gym are open and available for use! Our new reception area is also open.

There are still improvements being made across the centre, including in the previous 'ladies gym'.

South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre

South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre gym refurbishment is complete! We have also previously had our tennis courts resurfaced, and All Weather Pitch 1 has also been resurfaced.

What was included in our centre improvements?

  Phase 1 - Decarbonisation and Infrastructure Phase 2 - Modernisation
Leyland Leisure Centre

We have:

  • Upgraded the centre’s power supply
  • Upgraded the hot water and heating systems
  • Installed an energy efficient air source heat pump
  • Installed solar panels
  • Moved to energy efficient LED lighting
  • Made ventilation upgrades
  • Upgraded the roof and fencing 
  • Made fire safety improvements.

We have:

  • Created new pool changing areas, toilets and showers 
  • Extended and redesigned the entrance and reception area
  • Replaced pool glazing and the pool cover 
  • Re-tiled pool surround 
  • Installed virtual Les Mills class set-up 
  • Installed new dry-side changing rooms 
  • Updated gym equipment - including selected new equipment from Concept2 
Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre

We have:

  • Upgraded the centre’s power supply
  • Upgraded the hot water and heating systems
  • Installed an energy efficient air source heat pump
  • Installed solar panels
  • Moved to energy efficient LED lighting
  • Made ventilation upgrades
  • Upgraded the roof and fencing 
  • Installed new plant rooms.

We have:

  • Created new pool changing areas, toilets and showers 
  • Updated the dry-side changing rooms
  • Extended and redesigned the entrance and reception area
  • Updated gym equipment

  • Updated the reception area (ongoing)
  • Updated gym equipment, including selected new equipment from Concept2 
South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre

We have:

  • Upgraded the centre’s power supply
  • Upgraded the hot water and heating systems
  • Installed an energy efficient air source heat pump
  • Installed solar panels
  • Installed energy efficient LED lighting
  • Made roof and fencing upgrades
  • Upgraded the plant room and extended the car park
  • Made fire safety improvements.

We have:

  • Resurfaced the tennis courts with a high-quality new finish
  • Updated gym equipment (including selected new equipment from Concept2) 
  • Resurfacing AWP1 with 50mm long pile 3G synthetic carpet which is FIFA/FA approved (ongoing)
